La lacrima del sultano

Un racconto giallo che ha per protagonisti due giovani fidanzati. Persone vere in un’avventura da romanzo.

Oggi mi sono decisa a ripulire il desktop.
Al volo intravedo una foto di Granada di notte…
E mi ricordo di Serena e Davide, i miei clienti che vollero tornare là sulle pagine di un libro.
All’epoca erano due Erasmus.
Saliti all’Alhambra s’intrufolarono in una zona vietata al pubblico.
Ci doveva essere un evento importante, a giudicare dai sistemi di sicurezza.
Tra i presenti Serena e Davide riconobbero un vecchio professore, che li invitò ad un’anteprima unica: la presentazione di un rubino di epoca araba, di recente ritrovato.
Il suo nome era la Lacrima del Sultano.
La struttura in legno era avvolta da una complessa rete di sensori.
All’interno brillava il magnifico rubino.
A presentare l’evento il giovane e ambizioso docente di gemmologia Jorge Martinez, che fece una grave rivelazione ai due. Il ricco impresario Hilario Pereira aveva finanziato gli scavi in cambio del permesso di costruire un hotel di lusso proprio accanto all’Alhambra.
Qualcosa che Martinez considerava inaccettabile.
Presenti politici, giornalisti, e il figlio dell’impresario, Manuel Pereira, che non prese la parola per un forte male ai denti che gli aveva persino gonfiato il viso.
La kermesse iniziò, ma quasi subito mancò la luce. Un attimo dopo il rubino era sparito.
Nessuno era uscito, eppure nessuno aveva la pietra con sé.
La struttura venne setacciata, ma il prezioso sembrava svanito nel nulla.
Hilario Pereira svenne: indebitato, ora rischiava la catastrofe.
Serena e Davide lo videro cacciare in malo modo una ragazza che, insieme a suo figlio, lo aveva soccorso. Perché mai?
I due giovani, obbligati dalla polizia a restare in città, si trovarono nel fitto del caso.
Molte persone avevano ragioni per rovinare i Pereira.
Il giovane professore, sdegnato per la costruzione dell’hotel. Il capo della vigilanza, cui in gioventù Hilario aveva molestato la figlia.
Persino Davide, cui non era piaciuto sin dall’inizio.
Troppi fili per comporre una trama chiara.
Ma una mattina Davide vide una foto sul giornale e notò un dettaglio a cui nessuno aveva pensato.
Non c’era tempo di avvisare la polizia, bisognava correre…
… Come si è fatto tardi! Meglio fare una pausa.
